- About the Race
- Triathletes, you are about to embark on an awesome journey. By coming to the Motivation Man website, you have started the process of becoming one of the initial 1,000 athletes that will have the opportunity to take part in a truly groundbreaking event:
- The Motivation Man.
- Brought to you by the Game On Sports Marketing Group, the Motivation Man will be the next big thing in the lifestyle, participant sports industry.
Brought to you by same the team that created the cutting edge Publix Family Fitness Weekend/Sprint Triathlon Series 25 years ago, the Motivation Man will be taking the sport of triathlon, and all the excitement that goes along with it, to the next level.
On June 2, 2012, beautiful Downtown West Palm Beach, Florida will be transformed into the hub of the multi-sport world. 1,000 athletes from around the country will swim, bike, and run their way through two outstanding races, the Motivation Man ½ Iron and the Motivation Man Olympic.
Both races will feature courses that are second to none. The swims will take place in the pristine Intracoastal at high tide, meaning the water will be at it’s cleanest and clearest, as swimmers tackle either the 1.2 mile ½ Iron course, or the .94 mile Olympic course. Once out of the water, it’s a quick 200 yard sprint to the transition area to prepare for the bike. The out and back course will take riders from Downtown West Palm Beach, west through the Villages of Wellington and Royal Palm Beach, and past Lion Country Safari and the far reaches of Western Palm Beach County before they turnaround on SR 80/Southern Boulevard just east of CR 700. For those doing the ½ Iron, it’s 56 miles of flat, fast, newly paved roads, while those doing the Olympic will tackle 25 miles or blacktop.
Upon returning to the transition area at City Commons along the Downtown Waterfront, athletes will dismount and head out on the run course. Without a doubt, the Motivation Man run course is one of the BEST triathletes will find anywhere. It’s a 6.5 mile loop, with 95% of the course taking runners along idyllic Flagler Drive and the Intracoastal. To start, the course leaves transition and heads south on Flagler, following the running path that goes underneath the Royal Park Bridge. The course continues south, and turns around at the 2.5 mile mark which sits on Flagler. Runners will then retrace their footsteps heading north, going under the Royal Park Bridge once again, along Flagler past the transition area.
They will turn around at Flagler and 7th Street, then either head to the finish line, – in the case of those doing the Olympic – or stay on the course for another loop, if they are doing the ½ Iron. The Finish Line will be in the southbound lanes of Flagler in front of the Transition Area. There will be plenty of food, water, and recovery beverages for athletes following the race. We will also have a fully staffed medical tent that will be able to take care of any issue athletes may have, from heat sickness, to fatigue, to “road rash.”
The Motivation Man will conclude with a killer, Post-Race Party & Awards Ceremony at a location to be determined on famous Clematis Street. There will be food, drink, and fun and activities for the entire family. So, don’t hesitate. The Motivation Man will close at 1,000 entries, and we are well on our way there. We look forward to seeing you, and hope that you and your fellow triathletes will make the Motivation Man an annual race on your event calendar! |
